The Fantastic Benefits of our Car Hire Excess Cover

Save money and be covered for your car rental’s excess by purchasing Car Hire Insurance from AIG starting from €0.14* per day! AIG's Car Hire Insurance (Car Hire Excess) provides a reimbursement of the excess applied to your car rental agreement that is both value for money and offers you the best possible coverage.

[1] Price of €0.14 per day is based on an individual aged 21-84 purchasing an Annual Excess Only policy (annual premium €49.99). Example correct as of 21/11/2023.

How Does Car Hire Excess Work?

As an example, if you purchased an AIG Car Hire Excess insurance policy and the car rental company had an excess of €250 and you had an incident in your rental car, the cost to you would be €250 and then the rental company would pay the rest of the claim's cost. With your AIG policy, that €250 could be claimed back to you, not leaving you out of pocket.

Protect yourself from sky-high car hire excesses

Protect yourself from high excesses when hiring a car abroad with car hire excess insurance from AIG. Arranging car hire excess insurance online could not be easier. There's even a help feature if you are unsure of anything. Just choose the insurance cover that best meets your needs and buy online in just a few minutes!

What is Car Hire Excess?

When you are travelling and you rent a car, the hire price normally includes insurance covering you for accidents and theft. Unfortunately you may also have to pay a large excess if the hired car is damaged or stolen. Often when you pick up the car you've hired the car rental company will offer you the option of upgrading your insurance to minimise or remove the excess cost but this is usually expensive and is normally an unexpected extra cost to your holiday. Car Hire Excess is a reimbursement policy which is designed to help you avoid these large excess costs.
